Whether you love books, cars, movies, or music, Austin has several great activities to participate in this October!

10/2-10/4 & 10/9-10/11 – Austin City Limits Music Festival

What better city to host one of the country’s largest celebrations of music than the Live Music Capital of the World? Started in 2002, ACL showcases more than 130 musical acts on eight stages over two weekends in Austin’s Zilker Park. In addition to the music, people can enjoy food and drinks from local restaurants and vendors, an Art Market, mini-fest for kids, and more. Good music, good food, good times!

10/10-10/11 – Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Fall Native Plant Sale

Fall is the ideal time to plant in Texas! Who knew? The Wildflower Center’s annual Fall plant sale features more than 300 species of unique Texas natives adapted to thrive here. The center also sells wildflower seeds, grasses, wetland plants for ponds, perennials, trees and shrubs.

10/15 – The Texas Conference for Women

The largest conference of its kind in the state, and one of the largest in the country, the Texas Conference for Women features nationally recognized speakers who share their wisdom and expertise on a variety of personal and professional development topics.

10/17 – AustOberfest

The Austin Saengerrunde will host the 3rd Annual AustOberfest celebrating Central Texas German heritage. Of course, there will be German-style sausage, lots of bier, live music, and bowling.

10/17-10/18 – Texas Book Festival

The Texas Book Festival has become one of the most prominent literary events in the country, hosting around 250 authors each year. There are multiple venues and events to enjoy, including readings, panel discussions, signings, live music, and local food trucks. Lots of fun for book lovers of all ages!

10/23-10/25 – Formula 1 Grand Prix

Racing fans from around the world gather in Austin to watch drivers compete in the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas. There will be festivities all weekend long, including a post-race performance by Elton John.

10/29-11/5 – Austin Film Festival

Recognized as one of the top film festivals in the country, the Austin Film Festival brings together film lovers from all over the world. The festival offers an exceptional program of narrative, animation and documentary features and shorts, including premieres, advanced screenings, and independent films. Screenings are often accompanied by question and answer sessions with cast members and filmmakers.
